Wine maker notes
OUR VINES Vista Flores, Valle de Uco 1050 meters in elevation. High density planting of 6,850 vines per hectare produces fewer pounds of fruit per vine. With fewer clusters to ripen, you get more of the good stuff going to each grape. This helps us capture the ripeness without over extraction and express the uniqueness of the vineyard. OUR SOIL The ground has an alluvial origin and the texture is sandy topsoil over small pebbles. Soils are slightly alkaline and with a low level of organic material. This makes for excellent drainage and moderate vine stress. OUR SKY The climate in this semiarid zone is mild to hot with the advantage of a very good thermal range with an average of 16șC. This favors obtaining very good aromas and tannins. This zone stands out for its intense winters and hot summers. OUR WATER The water is totally pure as it runs off of the 20,000 ft snow covered peaks of the Andes Mountains. Pure mineral water results in lower ph and higher natural acidity allowing us to produce naturally balanced wines.

Producer
Loosely translated, Loca Linda means “crazy in a good way.” The same could be said for the winemaking philosophy of owner Brian Smith and his wife Gina – despite the naysayers, they’ve found a way to produce a high-quality, expressive, hand-crafted wine at an approachable price point. A Master Sommelier with experience at some of the finest dining establishments in the US, Brian’s intention is to create terroir-driven wines of character. To that end, he leveraged his knowledge and industry contacts in Argentina to identify high altitude vineyards with well-draining alluvial soils and impeccably pure water. As part of their sustainable winemaking philosophy, Brian and Gina use lightweight, eco-friendly one liter bottles which contain more wine, but involve less waste.
