Malt Advocate 89 points - A new addition to the permanent Balvenie range. Lovely bright gold color. Layers of sweetness (the characteristic Balvenie honey, along with vanilla fudge, nougat, and rich toffee) peppered with dried spice and a hint of tropical fruit (papaya, guava, tangerine). Nice viscosity with good grip on the finish. I really like the balance and complexity of this whisky. A very solid effort and the price is right. (Winter 2010) Reviewed by: John Hansell  (Aug 2010)

Ultimate Beverage Challenge 95 points - Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2011 Finalist. Concentrated aromas of sawdust/wood plank and brown sugar are prevalent; toasty, rum-like, molasses tastes match up well with sweet bouquet. (Mar 2011)

Bowmore’s celebrated Single Malt has been distilled on this jewel of an island, the Queen of the Hebrides, ever since 1779. This makes it the first of Islay’s eight distilleries chronologically speaking (and by taste too, many would say). Now, as then, Bowmore is widely acknowledged to be among the finest and most perfectly balanced single malts in the world.
