Ultimate Beverage Challenge 96 points - (UB Collection,Finalist,Tried & True Award)- Slightly earthy on the nose with subtle herbs and orange zest aromas. The pleasant mouth coating texture is richly laden with baking spices and a touch of tobacco. Clove-spiked oranges and light caramel round out the finish.  (Mar 2015)

Wine Enthusiast 90 points - Made from estate-grown, chateau-bottled Grande Champagne grapes and eaux-de-vie that are between 15 and 20 years old. Aroma of damp earth, succulent fresh fruit, flowers and spice. Palate entry is off-dry, caramel-like and properly oak; at midpalate, the flavor deepens, offering lip-smacking tastes of light toffee, almond butter and vanilla extract. Finishes candied and rich. ó P.P. (Jul 2004)

Wine maker notes
At Frapin no more than two hours are allowed to elapse between harvest and pressing. Frapin cognacs undergo an entirely natural fermentation: no cultivated yeasts are added. To retain freshness of fruit, filtration is not permitted at Frapin. Distillation is conducted in one of Frapinís four special Charentes copper stills. Frapin cognacs are subject to a double-distillation process. Aging is conducted in Limousin oak casks. Frapin utilizes dry-cellar aging for Ch‚teau Fontpinot XO. The dry cellaring allows more evaporation of water than alcohol which leaves the cognac more refined and elegant. Frapin was the first house, and for some time the only, utilizing dry-cellar aging.
